We are starting a new Twitter Chat for KTI members past and present! Please look here for information about the chat, polling for topics, and transcripts from the chats. Our #KTIChat will be held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM EST. You may want to bookmark this page in order to see the transcripts of the chats or take polls about upcoming chats.

Helpful Hints if You Have Never Done a Twitter Chat Before:
  1. To find the Chat, just search for the hashtag: #KTIChat
  2. Make sure that you put the same hashtag on all your posts or people who don't follow you will not see your links.
  3. The moderator will most likely lead off with some questions starting with: "Q1. What do you think...."
  4. To help others understand your answer you may want to answer with: "A1. I feel that..."
  5. Please remember to be polite and respect other teacher's point of view. Text can sometimes be cold. Don't read into people having a different point of view than you do.
  6. Don't forget that twitter is public, don't write something that you wouldn't want your superintendent, your mother, your child, and your students reading...even if it has this hashtag.
  7. It is always nice and helpful to follow posters who you find interesting and re-tweeting interesting posts and ideas on to your followers.

Dear #KTIFamily,

I'm busy. I'm sure that you are too! Sometimes things get away from us...(please notice how late you are getting this email for TOMORROW!) :-0 So, I'll be moderating this shindig, please be sure to follow @mrsteigerwalt tomorrow at 7 PM.
As we start to set up our new year and welcome a new flock of students, the #KTIChat will be all about communication. How do you stay in touch with your parents? How do you stay in touch with your students? What methods do you have to communicate with your colleagues, your administrators, and even your PLN.
Clear communication will definitely save you time and prevent aggravation, so we hope that you can join us tomorrow. Come prepared to share the apps, listservs, google groups, or any other method that you use to stay in touch! Let's get this plan together and share our ideas before meet the teacher night!

The End of the Year is coming!

Yep. I'll bet you knew that already and that some of you are maybe even counting down a little inside your hearts. But the end of the school year means more than just the impending summer vacations. If we are truly helping our students end the school year correctly, we need to help them understand what to do to save their data, how and what to archive, and how to reflect upon their learning in a meaningful way.
So, next Wednesday, May 3 at 7PM we will be having our monthly #KTIChat on twitter. I will be leading a discussion on your best ideas on how to end the school year, not with busy work and games, but rather with digital portfolios and reflections. I hope that you (and all the #KTIFamily) can join us to share what you do to help your students end their year. Please be sure to search for and tweet using the hashtag #KTIChat for the whole time between 7 and 8 PM.
So, we hope to see you all there! It's always great to reconnect with all of our #KTIFamily and #KTIFriends and be re-energized! We will definitely need the recharge to get us ready to try to convince the students that they still have things to learn in May! Please feel free to invite other educators to join in on the chat! The more the merrier!

April 5, 2017

Please find the transcript of April 2017's #ktichat below. The KTI Family shared great insight about their favorite tech tools!

February 1, 2017
I'm busy. That's all. I don't have enough time to do everything I want to do. Neither do you. With the internet has come content; lots of content. So much content that none of us can curate all of it sorting out the good from the bad (or as I like to call it: "the 2 minutes of my life I can't have back!").

There is no way to follow, learn, explore, develop using everything out there. We need each other to slog through everything. How do you even find the good stuff, so you don't waste time on second rate apps, extensions, and other tech tools?

With this in mind, this month's #KTIChat will be on Weds. Feb 1, 2017 at 7:00 PM and our topic will be #FollowFebruary. The idea will be to think about and share who you follow? What Blogs do you read? What podcasts do you listen to? What social media helps you to stay current? What news sources do you trust? What internet and educational leaders do you look to for new and interesting ideas?

So, I hope that you'll join me as moderator this month...This will be a great month to come prepared to talk about your own finds and experiences as well as to learn lots of neat sources for new and innovative ideas. I hope to see you all there!

Well, it's that time again! Time for another batch of new year's resolutions. But why not mix it up this year?!?! This year we'll all be making our #NewYearTechResolutions at our next #KTIChat! And to make it even more interesting...Our special guest moderator is none other than the new regional director of the North Central Region of PAECT...Kristen Albright!!

She asked that I share her questions with you so that you would be able to ponder some of your responses in advance. So, here we go:

"My theme was New Year Tech Resolutions. I plan to ask these questions:What is your tech resolution for 2017?What is the biggest obstacle to achieving that goal? How can you get others to share your vision for this tech? What are some funding sources you might try?How do you plan to evaluate the efficacy of your plan?"

December 7, 2016

I hope you'll all come out for Wednesday's #KTIChat with guest tweeter Donna Albertson (@onejollyday). She will be discussing #TechTheHalls. Lets all meet up and get into the holiday tech spirit! Hope to see you then!

So we had six topics that people suggested discussing on Weds. Sept 2, 2015's #KTIChat. To vote, go to http://goo.gl/forms/DL9aABCxMX before Tuesday, Sept 1. Then come back on Sept 2 at 7 PM to join the discussion.
Thank you to everyone who signed up to be a #KTIChat organizer! You will hear from me shortly so we can get onto planning for next year. I figured we might be a little busy this week (with the whole "new school year thing").

The vote ended up being a tie. So, we ended up splitting our time between: “using tech for depth of understanding” and “Back to school tips and tricks”

Wednesday, July 29, 12:15-12:45

Hello Keystones!

Many of you may be aware that next week is the KTI Summit for 2015. This year we'd like to do something different and have a mini-#KTIChat to welcome the new members of our KTI-Family. Think of it like a home-coming festival in the middle of the summit. Because of how full the Summit schedule is kept (as usual), the chat will be on Wednesday July 29, over our lunch from 12:15 PM-12:45 PM. The topic for the day is "connect" and our moderator, @Teresa_cross_ will be aligning her questions to that pillar.

July 1, 2015

This month will be about sharing what you are doing this summer to Develop and plan for the upcoming school year. What ideas do you have that you want to try? How do you manage your time so that you can both relax and refresh as well as stay motivated to innovate? What formats do you use to lay out your curriculum? Do you use a LMS? Do you pre-plan assessments and tests? What software, websites, and apps do you use?

As this is also so close to ISTE, we will certainly open up the discussion for things you may have learned at ISTE if you were able to attend, as well as questions about any of the events if you weren't able to attend the conference.

This should be a great conversation and I hope that you can all join us!

June 3, 2015

Hello fellow Keystones!

This month we will be welcoming Jason Heiser as our guest Tweeter. You may remember Jason as one of our lead learners at the KTI summit last year. Jason is a former Classrooms for the Future coach and teaches at Selinsgrove, PA. He became a Keystone in 2007 and helped out in the years since. Jason is also the North Central Regional Director of PAECT.

Jason will be leading a discussion on Tech Tomorrow. This is a leadership strategy that I'm excited to learn more about. So, please search for #KTIChat at 7PM on Wednesday to learn more about it.

May 6, 2015

This month's KTIChat will feature our own Tom McGee as our guest tweeter. I hope that you can all come out and join us at 7 PM on Wednesday.

April 1, 2015

No Joke! This month had KTI Stars suggest and vote for topics that interested them. The final selected topic was, "How have you changed since becoming a KTI Star."

March 4, 2015
The #KTIChat on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 7 PM will focus on the recent Pennsylvania Educators Technology Expo & Conference (PETE&C) that took place a few weeks ago in Hershey, PA. We will look at the highlights of the conference, favorite breakout sessions, and of course, chocolate! We will also look at different tips and techniques others have in convincing their admin that this conference is worth every penny. Finally, we will also discuss the annual ISTE conference as it heads back to Philly in June of 2015.

This one will be a little more informal as we hope that you will have lots of neat ideas to share!

Our Second Twitter Chat

Our next chat will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 7PM. This month's discussion will revolve around the "Develop" pillar. As it is September and we're all gearing up for a great new year, the topic for the chat will be how you, as innovators, develop new ideas for your classroom. Please think about-and come prepared to share-what new things you are looking forward to trying this year, how you found them, as well as the process you used to select them from the almost infinite number of new things that are available to you as an educator. Hope to see you Wednesday!

Our First Ever Twitter Chat

Our first chat will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 7 PM. During that time we will be exploring how often we would like to meet, topics that we would like to see covered, who would like to help out as a "KTIChat Moderator," and who would like to help with the planning for the chat. Normally, we can take requests for what to cover on the chat and set up a poll to be sure that we are picking topics that are interesting to as many of us as possible. I hope that you can all attend this first chat so that you can provide your input into our new chat!
